Learn what improvements will bring the most return from a buyer…

- Dennis Norman
How many times while doing a rehab of a home you plan to flip have you spent extra money on something to make it special or stand out, such as a remodeled kitchen, updated master bath, room addition, etc, only to wonder in the end if it was really worth it? Were you asking did the price you end up selling the home for justify the extra expense? Would you have been better off saving on the rehab and selling it for less?
Unfortunately it’s hard to know just what is going to get a buyers attention and, perhaps more importantly, which things a buyer will be willing to pay extra for, but there is a very useful, and free, resource that will help. Annually, Remodeling Magazine and REALTOR(R) magazine produce a Cost Vs. Value report which shows the average value various home improvements add to a home versus the average cost of making such improvements. While the numbers are average and are based on regional and national data, it will still give you a pretty clear idea of what improvements get you the most bang for your buck.
REALTOR(R) magazine is hosting a free webinar in which they will review the cost vs value report as well as give insight and analysis of the data. The webinar is scheduled to last one hour and according to the website will cover, amongst other items, the following:
- Which home remodeling projects provide the most bang for the buck.
- How the downturn and slow recovery in the housing market have impacted the value of home improvements.
- How other trends such as energy efficiency and severe credit constraints have affected the remodeling space.
The webinar is on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. You can register for the webinar by clicking here.
