At the REALTORS(R) Conference and Expo in San Diego yesterday, a la mode, inc. announced the realease of it’s new DaVinci TourSketch System featuring interactive floor plans to help market homes.  According to the company, tens of thousands of real estate appraisers currently use the product. The new agent version of DaVinci includes the drawing and square footage calculation features from the appraisal version but also includes multimedia features such as placement of links to photos and publishgin directly to a free intereactive tour campatibel with any website.

I have not been able to try out the actual product yet but I watched the video demonstration on the company’s website and I have to say, it blew me away! The software looks so simple and easy to use however delivers professional looking results that I think anyone would be proud of. The software is perfectly suited for a tablet PC and if you have one you can simply do a rough hand sketch of the room, write in the wall dimensions (it has handwriting recognition built-in) and then when you are done making your “naplin sketch” of the floor plan DaVinci automatically redraws the whole floorplan in a presentation-quality format, complete with square-footage calculations.

Hey, I’m not saying it’s so simple that “even a cave man can do it”, but believe me, it’s a whole lot easier than the architectural software programs, such as AutoCad, that I have used in the past where I felt I needed a four-year degree in the software just to use it.

According to the company website DaVinci costs $249.00 and while that is not cheap in terms of todays software prices, I think it is pretty reasonable for what this software appears to do. This is definitely something I think investors can use to market their homes in a unique and creative way, making it easy for potential buyers to “walk through” your homes before they even arrive.
